My name is Kalyssa and I am the owner of Sawtooth Sweet Shoppe. I am a college student at the University of Idaho with a sweet tooth and a passion for business. I am currently studying agricultural business with a minor in entrepreneurship and marketing, so you could say running a business is what I eat, sleep, and breath!

When it comes to starting Sawtooth Sweet Shoppe, the story starts in 2021, when my family purchased a freeze dryer and began to experiment with all the possibilities. They spent months trying different freeze dried candies, freeze dried fruits, freeze dried soup mixes and so much more to see what we could create. At the time this was happening, I was overseas on the World Race serving around the world, but upon returning home I became drawn into the freeze drying frenzy. 

A couple months later, I headed off to school and did not think much more about it, until I was talking to my mom on the phone. She mentioned that since our backyard garden was done producing for the year they no longer had any veggies or fruits to freeze dry and they were not really using the freeze dryer at all. 

My business brain kicked in and I asked the question of what if we started a freeze dried candy business? 

My mom quickly agreed to the idea and we went to work! 

A few weeks later, when I came home for break, I was able to begin testing products, packaging, and branding. We officially opened our website to the public on January 11, 2023 and have been selling since!

In October of 2023, we launched our new company name Licht & Honey and prepared for more growth in the years to come! We have so many fun projects and new products in the works and we are thankful to have faithful customers like you who make it all possible!
